Eye care
Caring for the eyes and the hygiene in the periocular area (eyelashes, eyelids and eyelid margin) opened the door for Laboratorios Viñas' to specialising in ophthalmology.
The laboratory's extensive experience with topical preparations containing tested development pharmaceutics, active ingredients and excipients suitable for treating different skin types has made it possible to develop a line of cosmetic treatments for sensitive eyes and the periocular area. In addition, oral formulations for stimulating visual function and preventing age-related macular degeneration have been designed and launched on the market.
Laboratorios Viñas continues its mission to develop and offer new useful preparations to cover eye card needs.
Make-up removal and cleansing for sensitive eyes
Cleansing is an essential first step in the daily care routine for sensitive eyes as it prepares them for moisturisers and other treatments to be applied. The area surrounding the eye is extremely sensitive and highly susceptible to external influences. The lymphatic system is slower and therefore allows toxins and fat cells to build up.
Care for sensitive eye contours
The skin around the eyes is four times thinner than in other parts of the body, so it isn't as protected against external attacks and requires special care; this care is based on applying highly moisturising, antioxidant, protective substances.
Eyelash treatment
The health and beauty of the eyelashes can be affected by several factors:
- External aggression: pollution or solar radiation makes the eyelashes fragile and causes them to fall out prematurely.
- Natural ageing: over the years, the pigmentation of the eyelashes is reduced and their texture becomes dry, making them rough and dull.
- Bad habits: a poor diet, excessive make-up or the use of eyelash curlers can crack and break the eyelashes.
High tolerance make-up
The area around the eyes is the most sensitive and delicate part of the entire face. Make-up is part of the daily beauty rituals for many women. Through the use of make-up we accentuate our most attractive features and hide those little imperfections or signs of fatigue that can diminish the beauty of our faces. With it being such a sensitive area, it is important to use a high tolerance treatment make-up that is suitable for sensitive eyes.
Dry eye
The eye is the organ we use for our sight and it is highly susceptible to external aggression.
The eye area has virtually no muscles to hold it in place, while sweat glands and sebaceous glands keep it hydrated and protect it against factors like stress. One of the most common conditions related to sensitive eyes is dry eye syndrome. 30% of visits to ophthalmologists are due to dry eye-related problems.
Eye hygiene
The eyelids with their eyelashes and glands (sebaceous and sweat) and the lachrymal sac are structures protecting the eye, which are part of the area known as the periocular area. There are various ophthalmological conditions affecting this periocular area. In order to treat it correctly, it is essential to perform specific hygiene measures with products that do not cause irritation or allergy, and which promote healing.
Macular degeneration and visual fatigue
As with the other senses, sight deteriorates with age. For instance, visual fatigue or aesthenopia are common in people performing excessive eye work, and age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) is the second most common cause of blindness in people over 50 years of age in Western countries.
